- The Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport has been formed in November 2016 pursuant to a law issued by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, thus replacing the ex "Department of Municipal Affairs" and "Department of Transport".
Responsibilities of the Department of Municipal Affairs & Transport span a wide array of sectors including municipal affairs, civil aviation as well as land & marine transport sectors. The Department drafts legislations of relevance to these fields and submits them to the Executive Council. It also prepares relevant plans & strategies in accordance with the development policy of the government.
