On 19 February 2024 the Austrian Ministry of Defence signed a contract with GDELS-Steyr to procure 225 additional Pandur Evolution 6x6 wheeled armored vehicles in 12 versions, with a contract volume of about €1.8 billion and deliveries scheduled from 2025 to 2032.
On 20 February 2024 General Dynamics European Land Systems–Steyr announced it had been awarded a contract by the Austrian Armed Forces to deliver an additional 225 PANDUR 6x6 EVO wheeled armored vehicles, with an initial contract value of €1.2 billion (about $1.3 billion) including multiple new variants such as mobile air defence and electronic warfare vehicles.
On 23 February 2024 Rheinmetall announced that the Austrian Ministry of Defence ordered 36 Skyranger 30 air defence turret systems to be installed on 36 Pandur 6x6 Evolution vehicles recently ordered from GDELS-Steyr, with Rheinmetall acting as subcontractor to GDELS-Steyr and deliveries planned from 2026 onward.
On 21 March 2025 GDELS–Steyr presented a new air defence variant of the PANDUR 6x6 EVO at AUSA Global Force, integrating a dedicated air defence system on the wheeled armored platform and highlighting mobile air defence capabilities for export and domestic customers.
On 23 February 2024 the Austrian Armed Forces were identified as the launch customer for the Pandur EVO equipped with the Skyranger 30 air defence turret, ordering 36 turrets to be installed on 36 of the 225 Pandur EVO vehicles ordered on 19 February 2024 under a mid–three digit million euro contract.
On 30 October 2020 the Austrian Ministry of Defence awarded a contract to General Dynamics European Land Systems–Steyr for the delivery of 30 PANDUR 6x6 Evolution wheeled armored vehicles, as later reported by GDELS in January 2021.

- GDELS-Steyr is the Austrian site of General Dynamics European Land Systems, the Europe-based land systems business of General Dynamics. It is the home of the PANDUR wheeled armoured vehicle. The Pandur EVO serves as the national host platform for the 36 Skyranger 30 counter-drone turrets contracted for the Austrian Armed Forces, and the group has also shown Piranha air-defence configurations pairing a turret with autonomous effectors. The wider group supplies wheeled and tracked armoured vehicles, artillery systems, and floating and dry-gap bridging to 50 customers worldwide, including 20 NATO and EU countries, from facilities in Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Romania, Denmark and the Czech Republic. It has a cooperation agreement with Alpha Robotics to advance manned-unmanned teaming.
