On 2023-02-10 the UK Ministry of Defence awarded Thales and Schiebel a contract, reported around 20 million pounds, to supply the Royal Navy with a CAMCOPTER S-100 rotary-wing UAS solution dubbed Peregrine, fitted with ISR sensors and planned for deployment on a Type 23 frigate from 2024.
On 2017-02-07 the Royal Australian Navy signed a contract with Schiebel Group to provide CAMCOPTER S-100 unmanned helicopters and three years of logistics support under Navy Minor Project 1942 for a proven VTOL maritime tactical UAS interim capability.
On 2023-09-19 reporting indicated that the Australian government decided not to pursue the planned CAMCOPTER S-100 acquisition under Project SEA 129 Phase 5 Block 1, formally dropping the offer from Schiebel and Raytheon Australia as part of its response to the Defence Strategic Review, while existing Royal Australian Navy CAMCOPTER operations and contracts remained unaffected.
On 2023-02-10 the CAMCOPTER S-100 was formally selected by the UK Ministry of Defence as the uncrewed air system for the Royal Navy’s Peregrine programme, providing a deck-launched ISR capability with Thales acting as lead systems integrator.
On 2023-09-11 Thales and Schiebel announced successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test for the UK Ministry of Defence Peregrine programme, validating the integrated CAMCOPTER S-100 UAS solution before deployment.

- The CAMCOPTER S-100 is developed to manned aviation standards and has over two decades of operational deployment on land and at sea, including in contested electromagnetic conditions. SYSTEM. A typical setup is two air vehicles with multiple payloads plus a ground control system with two workstations and a data link — deliberately small so the system stays available 24/7 from a minimal footprint. Control runs from ruggedised multi-screen consoles or from just two laptops. The Primary Flight Display carries position, mission and diagnostic status in real time, with a dedicated payload workstation for viewing, recording and processing across multiple payloads. CONNECTIVITY. The encrypted data link offers range options out to 200 km (108 nm), with a SATCOM module available for operations beyond topographical line of sight. INTEROPERABILITY. STANAG 4586 compatible, allowing direct control and data exchange with land-based stations, vessels, land vehicles and aircraft. It integrates into third-party infrastructure including naval Combat Management Systems and Emergency Response Coordination Centres, and supports Manned-Unmanned Teaming. Deployment options span mobile setups from vehicles or temporary sites, fixed stationary coverage, and MUM-T alongside manned platforms. MISSION SETS. Deployed on more than 50 vessels worldwide in all weathers, day and night, and across land operations from rugged terrain to remote sites. The anti-submarine warfare configuration adds a sonobuoy dispenser deploying NATO-standard A-size and G-size sonobuoys with real-time data transmission. RECENT PROGRAMMES. The larger CAMCOPTER S-300 was selected as the airborne platform for SWORD, a European Defence Fund project on stand-off anti-submarine warfare by remote deployment, in a consortium led by TKMS ATLAS ELEKTRONIK. Four S-100 systems were contracted for the Hellenic Navy's FDI frigates on 13 February 2026, with acceptance testing of the first two completed. The French Navy ordered five additional systems through the DGA, with Naval Group as prime contractor integrating them on FREMM frigates via the Steeris MS mission management system.
